Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's Degree in Biology or a related discipline, or a Bachelor's degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years in biology or related field, and three (3) years in science analysis and project management.


Key Skills (Ranked by Priority):

  1. Expertise in translating complex scientific material into non-technical language.
  2. Strong communication skills (both oral and written), including publication-quality writing and presentations.
  3. Experience communicating with research scientists across academia, not-for-profit, and for-profit organizations.
  4. Ability to evaluate scientific research programs.

Software Proficiency:

  • Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and assist staff in implementing policies and procedures related to the organization's scientific programs.
  • Coordinate and document projects from initiation to completion, monitor and report status, funding, and results attained.
  • Collaborate with staff on planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating programs and initiatives.
  • Collect, analyze, and create scientific program information.
  • Manage, organize, enhance, and monitor study-related websites and intranet portals.
  • Create internal and external materials, including reports, summaries, emails, website content, video scripts, newsletters, and social media.
  • Coordinate workshops and report outcomes, extracting science themes and priorities during multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Take comprehensive notes, organize, and edit content of meeting reports.
  • Evaluate scientific programs and recommend necessary changes, reviewing planning proposals to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Conduct comprehensive studies of performance measures for program productivity.
  • Assist with project-based activities like workshop planning, resource evaluation, communication strategy, and report writing/editing.
  • Track project implementation, reviewing progress in relation to plans and maintaining project-tracking documents.
  • Coordinate staff responsible for developing, installing, and maintaining scientific programs.
  • Engage in developing and improving current policies and procedures.
  • Organize and lead project and meeting coordination with internal and external collaborators.
  • Develop materials summarizing collaboration progress with the Stem Cell Translation Laboratory (SCTL).
  • Provide administrative clearances for external collaborations, and assist researchers with technical and scientific obligations.
  • Facilitate intramural/extramural collaborations, support project solicitation processes, and disseminate communication materials.
  • Fulfill Federal and Congressional reporting requirements.
  • Plan and execute NCATS-sponsored workshops, symposia, and short courses.
