Currently we are partnered with a preferred client in Ottumwa Iowa in search of a highly talented Emergency Department Director.

Job Summary:

The Emergency Department Director provides clinical and administrative leadership for the emergency department. This role is responsible for implementing the organizations vision mission plans and standards for emergency medicine services. Key responsibilities include overseeing clinical operations managing staff ensuring quality patient care maintaining regulatory compliance and directing the hospitals trauma program.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical and administrative leadership for the emergency department
  • Develop and implement policies procedures and standards of care
  • Manage staffing scheduling recruitment and retention of ED personnel
  • Evaluate quality and appropriateness of care provided
  • Oversee the hospital trauma program and ensure compliance with state requirements
  • Develop and monitor department budget
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
  • Collaborate with other departments and disciplines to coordinate patient care
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
Qualifications:

I. Education:

  • Bachelors degree in nursing or related field required (Associates degree with enrollment in BSN program may be considered)
  • Masters degree preferred

II. Experience:

  • 35 years of experience in emergency or critical care nursing
  • Minimum of 12 years in a clinical leadership role required

III. License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Current RN license in Iowa or compact state license
  • Current BLS certification required
  • ACLS PALS and TNCC certifications required (or must obtain within specified timeframe)
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong clinical knowledge of emergency nursing and prehospital care
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment
  • Proficiency with healthcare IT systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
