Anticipated Duties

  • Defines, describes, diagrams and documents the role and interaction of the high-level technological and human components that combine to provide cost effective and innovative solutions to meet evolving business needs
  • Develop process models that overlay technology eco-systems
  • Conduct meetings with customers and transform requirements into effective applications.
  • Evaluate applications development needs and apply technical principles and concepts to develop business solutions.
  • Analyze procedures and data to develop logical solutions to complex applications programming problems.
  • Recommend, design, and develop complex applications and supporting hardware and software
  • Perform complex application analysis design and development duties
  • Evaluate application development practices and create development standards, policies, and procedures
  • Create application design standards
  • Monitor quality assurance and security procedures for business applications.
  • Ensure application design and development policies are adhered to
  • Independently perform complex application development/programming analysis
  • Provide detailed design and specification documentation for all applications and
  • databases
  • Develop and maintain database standards
  • Participate in daily standups as required
  • Familiarly with Digital Health technologies – patient facing & hospital facing technologies

Cloud Expertise

  • Develop and maintain Cloud Applications alongside other engineers and developers, collaborating with the Medtronic Digital Health Team
  • Interpreting briefs to create high-quality coding that functions according to specifications
  • Contribute to application design
  • Determine application functions and building objectives with the Medtronic and/or Supplier stakeholders
  • Ensure that written code falls in line with the Medtronic-provided project objectives
  • Problem solving with other Medtronic and/or Supplier stakeholders in the project
  • Identifying and resolving immediate and potential issues with applications
  • Participating in group meetings with Medtronic and/or Supplier stakeholders to discuss projects and objectives
  • Follow Medtronic-provided source repository best practices
  • Assist other Medtronic and/or Supplier developers with troubleshooting, debugging, and coding.
  • Participate in daily standups as required
  • Experienced in variety of software languages/technologies including Node.js, TypeScript, AWS native technologies.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills\
  • Database experience
  • Experience translating product requirements into design specifications
  • Experience working on R&D activities

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)

  • FHIR & HL7V2: Working knowledge and experience implementation healthcare data exchange solutions with FHIR and HL7v2 standards
  • AWS Platform: Working experience with AWS services - in particular serverless architectures (S3, RDS, Lamba, IAM, API Gateway, etc…) supporting API development in a microservices architecture
  • Programming Languages: Strong programming skills in Python
  • Data Formats: Experience with JSON, XML and other relevant data formats
  • HealthCare Interoperability Tools: Previous experience with integration engines such as Intersystems, Lyniate, Redox, Mirth Connect, etc…
  • CI/CD Tools: experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools
  • Scripting and automation: experience in scripting language such as Python, PowerShell, etc…
  • Monitoring and Logging: Familiarity with monitoring & logging tools like CloudWatch, ELK, Dynatrace, Prometheus, etc…
  • Source Code Management: Expertise with git commands and associated VCS (Gitlab, Github, Gitea or similar)
  • Documentation: Experience with markdown and in particular Antora for creating technical documentation

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Strongly Preferred:
  • Previous Medtronic experience
  • Previous Healthcare or Medical Device experience
  • Experience working with Healthcare Data, including HL7v2, FHIR and DICOM
  • FHIR and/or HL7 Certifications
  • Building software classified as Software as a Medical Device (SaMD)
  • Understanding of EHR technologies such as EPIC, Cerner, etc…
  • Experience implementation enterprise grade cyber security & privacy by design into software products
  • Experience working in Digital Health software
  • Experience developing global applications
  • Strong understanding of SDLC – Waterfall & Agile methodologies
  • Software estimation
  • Experience leading software development teams onshore and offshore

Job Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops, documents, and configures systems specifications that conform to defined architecture standards, address business requirements, and processes in the cloud development & engineering.
  • Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting compliance and security standards.
  • API development using AWS services in a scalable, microservices based architecture
  • Actively identifies system functionality or performance deficiencies, executes changes to existing systems, and tests functionality of the system to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, data integrity, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.
  • May document testing and maintenance of system updates, modifications, and configurations.
  • May act as a liaison with key technology vendor technologists or other business functions.
  • Function Specific: Strategically design technology solutions that meets the needs and goals of the company and its customers/users.
  • Leverages platform process expertise to assess if existing standard platform functionality will solve a business problem or customization solution would be required.
  • Test the quality of a product and its ability to perform a task or solve a problems.
  • Perform basic maintenance and performance optimization procedures in each of the primary operating systems.
  • Ability to document detailed technical system specifications based on business system requirements
  • Ensures system implementation compliance with global & local regulatory and security standards (i.e. HIPAA, SOCII, ISO27001, etc…)
