As an associate in the Tampa FL office, you will learn all aspects of asbestos litigation and have the support and mentorship to become an expert in this focus area. A successful candidate should be a quick study as you will need to become familiar with various sources of asbestos exposure and the basic medical terminology associated with mesothelioma. You will be responsible for case investigation, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, document review, drafting and arguing motions, and preparing cases for trial.


The successful candidate will serve as a second or third chair during trials with the potential to first chair trials after gaining sufficient experience.


Qualifications:

· J.D. from ABA accredited institution

· Admission to Florida State bar licence, or eligibility for reciprocity.

· Strong academic record.

· Excellent legal research and writing abilities.

· Ability to cultivate and maintain strong client relationships.

· Willingness to travel frequently.

· Ability to work as an individual and as a part of a team on behalf of injured clients.

· Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise.

· Ability to work under a deadline in a fast-paced environment.

· Commitment to plaintiff work.

· Personality and a commitment to mission is an important factor (plaintiff, asbestos / mesothelioma, non-profit, judicial clerkship, criminal defence, etc.).


Preferred Experience:


if not, someone with plaintiff personal injury or complex litigation experience - This position is open to recent graduates - someone with great communication skills, strong writing, deposition experience, and familiarity with a courtroom.


Experienced attorneys ideally have some trial, research and writing, and deposition experience. Candidates with judicial clerkship experience are encouraged to apply.
