Job Summary and Qualifications

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Nurse Extern I delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the Nurse Extern I assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the Nurse Extern’s skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.

  • The Nurse Extern I is currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing, has completed the first semester of nursing basic coursework. As the Nurse Extern I progresses through the nursing program they can perform higher-level procedures once competency is achieved

What qualifications you will need:
  • 1+ years of nursing school completed preferred
  • 1 year of nursing school remaining (minimum)
  • Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing required
  • CNA Certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Riverside Community Hospital is a large acute care facility with 517 beds, established in 1901. It has the most extensive Emergency Room and Level I Trauma Center in the Inland Empire region and is the primary recipient of STEMI (heart attack) cases in Riverside County. The hospital is accredited as a Chest Pain Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center and has a HeartCare Institute that offers both invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures. Riverside has a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which it is very proud of.
