Manager - Marine Assurance


Responsibilities :


The role is expected to perform below functions, including but not limited to :-


Maintain and improve Operating procedures, processes, and requirements, through development of operational excellence and Risk control to ensure that the clearance process and the marine assurance system are effective in managing all activities associated with the Vetting, Clearance and Marine Risk management of controlled vessels and terminals.

Provide strong leadership in risk assessment and inspections of vessels and terminals, with detailed skills and knowledge of the work function, through various assessment tools to determine suitability of Vessels, Vessel’s operators/Managers, Terminals, and/or other service providers for the intended marine transaction.

Manage Vetting, Clearances for all 3rd party vessels, including Risk management of Specific Operations such as CBM/SPM and STS operations, tugboats, barges, and associated terminals involved in the bulk transportation of crude oil, petroleum products and chemicals.

Perform necessary TMSA Audits/Inspections.

Act as marine subject marine expert to provide risk-based solutions to the internal customers, as well as providing commercial support through technical skill to various business units.

Participate in Industrial work groups and keep track of industrial trends and updates.

Develop and maintain relationships with peers while implementing improvement in Marine Assurance procedures, processes, and strategies.


Skills and Competencies :


5 years sea experience on board Tankers, such as oil, gas carrier or Chemical in the rank of Master or Chief engineer.

Minimum 5 years of experience in Marine Assurance group of Oil major as a manager, lead of Marine Assurance/Vessel clearance, as well has experience of Vetting and Clearing Vessel and Terminals.

Familiarity with industry practices, rules, and various regulatory conventions such as SOLAS, MARPOL, ISGOTT, etc.

Familiarity and knowledge of the SIRE 2.0 system, TMSA, MTMSA and MTIS requirements.

Strong multi-tasking ability and risk management judgement and skills. A high level of coordination and ability to liaise, represent and co-ordinate within the company and across corporate and international boundaries. A high degree of ingenuity in identifying and resolving problems and issues.

Familiarity and knowledge of all aspects of Shipping and Related commercial activities, with good level in competence oral communication and written English skill. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse team of employees, contractors, and internal and external customers.
