The Technology Risk Management (TRM) Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing projects within the TRM program, including planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This role involves coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage projects with multiple interfaces or initiatives, or one larger project affecting two businesses or functional areas, from initiation through close. Ensure familiarity with scope and project objectives and establish clear roles and responsibilities for project team members.
  • Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans, forecasts, and schedules. Work with stakeholders to record detailed project requirements, constraints, and assumptions to establish project deliverables using requirement-gathering techniques such as planning sessions, brainstorming, and focus groups.
  • Scope and Budget Management: Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques to keep the project plan accurate, updated, and reflective of authorized project changes as defined in the change management plan. Ensure execution of tasks defined in the project plan to achieve the project goals and manage the budget/forecast.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate project plans to affected parties to ensure a common understanding, set expectations, and align stakeholders and project team members.
  • Performance Monitoring: Measure project performance utilizing appropriate tools and techniques to monitor progress, identify and quantify variances, complete any required corrective actions, and communicate to all stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Implement approved actions and workarounds required to mitigate project risk events and understand and adhere to the company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls.
  • Team Leadership: Improve project team performance by building team cohesiveness, leading, mentoring, training, and motivating to facilitate cooperation, ensure project efficiency, and boost morale.
  • Compliance and Control: Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Additional Duties: Complete other related duties as assigned.


Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of proven general management, project analysis, or project management experience, OR
  • In lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 5 years of higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years of proven general management, project analysis, or project management experience, with a minimum of 2 years in project management.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and pertinent software packages.


Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervisory leadership for all project-related activities and ensure effective coordination of team activities.


Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and regulatory requirements.
