Position Summary:
The Sequencing Workflows and Applications team at * is seeking an experienced Sr. Scientist to join our research and early development efforts in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS). The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in NGS workflow optimization and hands-on experience with nucleic acid extraction, library preparation, target enrichment, sequencing, and data analysis. This is a key role within our team, contributing to the development of new reagents, workflows, and assay solutions in the rapidly evolving field of NGS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, optimize, and validate NGS-based workflows, contributing to cutting-edge research in molecular biology and human disease.
- Accurately document experimental methods, materials, and results in electronic laboratory notebooks. Analyze data, evaluate results, and determine the next steps for experiments.
- Utilize broad molecular biology knowledge to troubleshoot assays, resolve technical issues, and interpret data.
- Present scientific background information and project updates at internal and cross-functional team meetings. Establish and maintain productive relationships with Development personnel, and train new R&D staff as needed.
- Write and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and accuracy in experimental processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
Experience:
- BS with 6+ years or MS with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong background in molecular biology, with a focus on NGS methods.
- Proven experience in assay design, optimization, validation, experimental design, data analysis, and presentation.
- Hands-on experience with NGS methods, including exome sequencing, whole genome sequencing, and RNA sequencing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using Illumina instruments (NovaSeq, HiSeq, NextSeq, MiSeq).
- Previous experience in the analysis and interpretation of NGS data.
- Familiarity with different genomics analysis technologies such as microarrays, real-time PCR, and quality control validation equipment.
- Understanding of oncology biology is a plus.
