Company Overview


We are looking for a full-time, exempt Civil Engineer to join our team. As a Civil Engineer, you'll work on civil projects for both municipal governments and private developments. Collaborating closely with Professional Engineers, Engineers-in-Training, and Designers, you'll begin by developing the technical processes to create civil drawings under the guidance of a Project Manager. During this time, you'll also build professional skills, gaining insight into the business and client aspects, with the goal of eventually managing the entire scope of a civil engineering project.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to perform the following tasks, among others:

Analyze and interpret survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.

Design and plan transportation or hydraulic systems and structures, ensuring compliance with construction and government standards using design software.

Create designs for stormwater, sewer, pipeline, parking, sidewalks, roadways, etc., using design software.

Prepare site grading and utility plans, coordinating with municipal authorities. Perform hydraulic calculations and prepare construction documents for permitting.

Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications.

Communicate project status with the Project Manager, clients, and other relevant parties, including preparing reports, data, and project activities.


Qualifications

A degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

Engineer-in-Training certification or the ability to obtain it within one year.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as building connections is essential to how we operate.


Preferred Skills and Experience

Experience in designing civil projects or performing calculations, particularly in land development, commercial, industrial, retail, education, municipal, roadways, water resources, or utilities.

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.

Familiarity with additional programs such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, or Bluebeam is a plus.


Physical Demands

This position is primarily sedentary, involving long periods of sitting, but may also include occasional walking and lifting of up to 25 lbs. Occasional bending, squatting, and reaching overhead may be required. Extensive daily computer usage is also expected.


Position Type and Schedule

This is a full-time, exempt position, with a standard expectation of 40 hours per week. We offer flexible scheduling options, including five 8-hour days or four 9-hour days with a half-day on Friday morning. While the start and end times of the workday can be adjusted, employees are expected to maintain a consistent schedule that encompasses the core business hours of 9 am – 4 pm. Although overtime is not mandatory, it may be requested occasionally to meet client needs.
