Senior Software Architect

We thrive on all things technology. As a Senior Software Architect at PorchPass, you will play a pivotal role in designing and scaling our enterprise SaaS product. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and operations, to ensure our software solutions meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and scalability. Your expertise in Python, JavaScript, and cloud technologies will be essential in guiding the development and evolution of our platform.


Role Responsibilities

Architectural Design: Lead the architectural design of scalable, high-performance SaaS products, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements.


Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, promoting best practices in software development, code quality, and agile methodologies.


Scalability and Performance: Design and implement strategies to improve the scalability, performance, and reliability of our SaaS platform, including database optimization, load balancing, and distributed systems.


Technology Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and tools to enhance our platform and streamline development processes.


Collaboration: Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver high-quality software solutions.


Code Reviews: Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to architectural standards, security guidelines, and best practices.


Documentation: Maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including design patterns, technical specifications, and system diagrams.


Continuous Improvement: Advocate for continuous improvement, driving initiatives to enhance code quality, reduce technical debt, and optimize development workflows.


Write Software: 70-80% of your time will need to be spent writing code.


Bias for Action: We are looking for people with experience to know when things need to be improved and won't hesitate in taking the necessary steps to correct them.



Required Skills/Abilities


Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a senior or lead architect role focused on scaling enterprise SaaS products.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python and JavaScript (Node.js, Next.js, React, Angular, or similar frameworks).
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven systems.
  • Knowledge of database technologies (SQL (Posstgres) and NoSQL) and data modeling.


Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of designing scalable and high-performance systems.


Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.


Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or relevant publications in the field.
