Job Summary:

Working under the guidance of senior engineers and their supervisor, the Electro-Mechanical Engineer will design structures, electrical controls, and peripherals to meet customer requirements. This position will need to coordinate and collaborate with vendors and other departments to meet project deadlines and specifications. This position requires some experience with power systems and controls, functional and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will possess excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to changing deadlines and the curiosity and passion to learn/grow.


Job Status (FLSA): Full-Time, Exempt

Location: As assigned.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The following list of responsibilities is not all inclusive, additional projects and/or tasks may be assigned to meet operational needs. DVM retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position should operational needs warrant.


  • Design mechanical structures, supports, BUS work, electrical controls, metering and communications to meet customer requirements.
  • Create parts lists, metal drawings, BUS drawings, assembly drawings, BOM as well as Operation & Maintenance Manual in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Detailed-oriented and organized in documentations. Follow and improve the standard design process and the best design practices.
  • Coordinate with our vendors as needed and focus on manufacturability, client specifications, functional and regulatory requirements.
  • Create designs specific to low voltage & medium voltage electrical switchgear assemblies/systems, replacement breakers and related equipment.
  • Make changes and corrections in the mechanical/electrical design throughout the life of the product.
  • Effectively collaborate with production and other engineers to ensure functionality, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
  • Effectively collaborate with other departments such as project management, production, and sales.
  • Create engineering reports/submittals that clearly address the technical needs of a project.
  • Complete any other tasks/projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years of design experience in electromechanical, circuit design, electrical design, etc.
  • Some experience in using AutoCAD (2D), AutoCAD Mechanical, or Autodesk Inventor (3D).
  • 2+ years of experience in similar industry preferred.
  • 4-year bachelor’s degree preferred, or EIT/PE License
  • Satisfactory completion of additional background screening (if applicable).


Physical Requirements:

  • The work environment is a typical office environment, with quiet to moderate noise level, and traditional lighting.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and operating a computer.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively using phones or computer software.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Engineers should adhere to safety protocols, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and follow ergonomic guidelines to prevent injuries.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities.
  • Must be able to travel between DVM locations as needed, some travel could require overnight stays.
