Contract Length: 8 weeks

Hours*: Hours will vary (20 hours - 30 hours weekly)

Pay: $22/hr

Reports to: Special Events & Marketing Coordinator and Executive Director

Starts: Immediately

About Us: Mexic-Arte Museum, the Official Mexican and Mexican American Fine Arts Museum of Texas, is dedicated to enriching the community through education programs, exhibitions, and the collection, preservation, and interpretation of Mexican, Latino, and Latin American art and culture for visitors of all ages.


The Role: The Event Project Manager supports the Museum’s Fall special events. The Associate will provide support in coordinating the details of Viva la Vida, an art installation, and an outdoor art market. The candidate must be able to adapt to changing environments, work under pressure, be punctual, and meet deadlines. This position reports to the Special Events & Marketing Coordinator and the Curator & Director of Programs.


*Must be available to work on October 26th, November 1st, and November 2nd.


Candidate Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations 
  • Work experience in an arts or other nonprofit. Preference given to candidates with experience working in the arts field, special events, PR, or communications.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking of English AND Spanish
  • Experience managing projects and delegating tasks to other staff members
  • Excels at building relationships and networking with fellow professionals
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Capable of managing event and calendars
  • Adept at organization, attention to detail, and juggling multiple tasks
  • Appreciation for Latinx art and culture
  • Ability to problem solve quickly


Responsibilities:

  • Event Project Management - Fall Art Installation, Viva La Vida, Muertos Mercado
  • Coordinating City of Austin permits and requirements
  • Managing various aspects of events, such as budgeting, equipment rentals, entertainment, site plans, schedules and volunteers
  • Upkeeping contact list of vendors
  • Communicate clearly and efficiently with market participants 
  • Assist in on-site management on the day of each event to ensure flawless execution
  • Other duties as assigned by direct supervisors
