Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and ensuring timely completion of M&A activities, including contract review, opening balance sheet procedures, valuation procedures, acquisition memo preparation, and post-acquisition accounting support.
  • Evaluating and proposing initial accounting for early-stage minority investments, equity method investments, and M&A activities.
  • Performing ongoing reviews for portfolio investments, assessing impairment indicators, fair value adjustments, and making accounting recommendations.
  • Partnering with stakeholders to address technical acquisition issues and assist in due diligence reviews.
  • Assisting with purchase price allocation studies by third-party valuation firms and other valuations for newly acquired businesses.
  • Collaborating with minority and equity method investment company management to prepare and review post-acquisition balance sheets.
  • Leading the annual goodwill impairment evaluation under ASC-350.
  • Establishing and maintaining accounting policies for acquisitions and investments, as well as existing accounting policies.
  • Reviewing new accounting pronouncements and recommending applications for the company.
  • Overseeing internal controls, including performing selected financial reporting controls, documenting deficiencies, and communicating with global control owners.
  • Participating in quarterly and annual close processes, including impairment review procedures, non-controlling interest accounting, segment analysis, and footnote preparation.
  • Providing US GAAP guidance for complex transactional activities to ensure proper local general ledger recording and future budgeting and forecasting implications.
  • Developing and training junior Technical Accounting team members.
  • Supporting the annual audit process with external accounting firms.
  • Performing other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years’ recent experience in Technical Accounting roles, with at least 3 years focused on Investments and M&A, in a mix of public accounting and publicly held company environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with an Accounting/Finance concentration required. MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial controls (SOX 404 and COSO framework), leading practices, process analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, listening, computer, quantitative, and presentation skills, including fluent English, SAP, and advanced MS Office Suite proficiency.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a matrix environment, fostering collaboration and teamwork within and between groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver multiple complex projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in leading organizational change and effectiveness.
  • High standards of business ethics, honesty, personal integrity, and professionalism.
  • Advanced skills in organizing, analyzing, and interpreting data, records, and reports.
  • Expert analytical skills with advanced problem-solving abilities.
