Job Description

As a Senior Robotics Engineer in the Maximo team, you will lead the development of advanced robotics software and capabilities. You will a key player in the development of the whole robotics SW stack that enable Maximo, our solar module installation robotic system; Duties will include developing sophisticated software in a variety of languages that will be used on our robots developing and optimizing advanced algorithms, as well as leading the technical roadmap for the Robotics part aligned with our vision and Product Roadmap.


A successful candidate has a strong technical understanding of robotics system architecture, controls and design combined with programming experience. They will be entrepreneurial, mission-driven individuals responsible for actively progressing, developing, and executing the technical vision of solar module installation robotic system. This person will be responsible for defining, designing, developing, and programming robotics applications for outdoors applications (off-road use) in close collaboration with mechanical, controls and vision/AI engineers.


As one of the Engineering leaders at Maximo, this position will work collaboratively across the Maximo team, external industry partners across the value chain, and AES teams, including engineering, business development, construction, finance, supply chain, and strategy.

Major Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement advanced control algorithms for robotic systems, including motion planning, trajectory generation and sensor fusion.
  • Translate product level requirements into technical design criteria.
  • Lead the development and integration of robotic hardware and software components.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation of robotics systems to meet performance and safety requirements
  • Research, develop, implement, and test new capabilities for industrial robotics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of robotics solutions into complex systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Stay up to date on the latest advancements in robotics and control technologies to drive innovation and improve product performance.


Requirements

  • Masters in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrica; Engineering, a related robotics-focused field, or equivalent industry experience
  • 6+ years of professional work experience
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as C++, Python
  • Proficiency in ROS2 and experience with ROS hardware integration
  • Experience programming PLC/HMI, Robot (preferred KUKA)
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex robotics systems to market
  • Understanding of motion planning, control, perception, and/or simulation
  • Demonstrated ability, either through previous projects, advanced education/research, and/or knowledge of the robotics field
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g. CE, FCC, UL), safety standards, risk assessment, product definition (sensors, power and electronics components)
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills and troubleshooting skills.

  • Technology fluency: Demonstrated ability to understand solar engineering and technology concepts, question assumptions, and make informed product and technology decisions. Technical understanding of automation, robotics, computer vision, machine learning and/or artificial intelligence, is a plus.
