Job Summary:
Project Overview: The Department of Student Transportation Services is seeking a skilled Data Operations Specialist to play a key role in Student Transportation Services. The resource will leverage their technical expertise and strong communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, document technical processes, and develop clear road maps for future development to better support the transportation needs of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, process, and analyze transportation data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Develop and maintain databases, dashboards, and reports to track transportation performance metrics.
- Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in transportation data to inform decision-making.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand and address their data needs.
- Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical teams to ensure alignment on project goals.
- Document technical processes, workflows, and methodologies used in data operations.
- Create and maintain detailed road maps for future development and improvement of transportation data systems.
- Assist in the development and implementation of data-driven projects aimed at enhancing student transportation services.
- Provide technical support and training to team members and stakeholders on data tools and processes.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement best practices in data management.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data operations and transportation services.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in data operations, data management, or a related role.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to document technical processes clearly and concisely.
Beneficial Skills (But Not Required):
- Experience in the transportation industry, particularly in student transportation services.
- Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and mapping tools.
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards.
- Project management experience or certification.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field.
