About the Company / Opportunity:

We are a thriving and expanding financial services firm based in South Bend. We are looking for an Associate General Counsel to partner closely with our Chief Risk Officer, providing legal expertise on all aspects of commercial and consumer lending.


Responsibilities:

• Serve as the legal authority on all lending matters, including industrial and real estate loans, leases, and specialty equipment loans.

• Lead a team of paralegals and collaborate with internal departments on legal issues.

• Advise on consumer and business depository agreements.

• Provide legal support on corporate governance and board of director matters.

• Participate in monthly anti-money laundering committee meetings.

• Manage responses to legal processes and oversee outside counsel and litigation.

• Assist accounting with timely SEC filings.

• Stay informed on legal and regulatory changes.

• Conduct compliance training as needed.


Must-Have Skills:

1. Bachelor’s degree and J.D.

2. 10+ years of relevant legal experience

3. 8+ years of experience in the banking and/or financial services industry

4. Expertise in commercial lending

5. Experience with SEC compliance

6. Management experience


Nice to Have Skills:

1. Admission to practice law in Indiana

2. Experience with legal software or systems
