Duties and Responsibilities: The student support specialist position will assist with literacy and numeracy intervention and general student support in the core areas. The Specialist will aide in identifying need, monitoring and documenting progress, communicating with teacher teams and assisting with SRBI meetings and preparing reports for building leadership teams. The Specialist will act under the direction of the Building Administrator and in collaboration with district supervisors, department leaders and instructional coaches where applicable. Daily planning for small group instruction based on individualized need for Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention will change as the student need changes. The Specialist will implement a variety of research based and district approved intervention programs such as Bridges Math and SIPPS Phonics, and can include technology based adaptive programming such as Read 180, Math 180. System 44, etc. Other duties and special assignments as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching foundational reading and mathematics
  • CT Certification (elementary or K12)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual Spanish or Portuguese speaking
  • Certification in Special Education/Literacy/Mathematics/Reading Specialist
  • Technologically proficient
