Taft Family Ventures (TFV) is currently searching for a CFO to assist in the company’s growth in the multi-family and commercial real estate space. Headquartered in Greenville, North Carolina, TFV is a family-owned and operated real estate development, construction, and property management company with five integrated and collaborative Divisions fueling its strategic operations. These include Taft Development Group, Taft Management Group, Taft Construction Group, Taft-Mills Group and the Taft Family Office all tightly integrated to deliver and operate real estate assets in the southeast.


TFV is collaboratively integrated allowing it to manage the entire life cycle of a project from acquisition, entitlement, design, construction, property management, and final disposition. By leveraging TFV’s multifamily capital markets and operations experience, the firm seeks to enhance value accretion through diligent and concerted management practices with superior financial controls, reporting, and analysis in investment management.


Reporting to the company’s Principals, the CFO will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and finance functions for all entities of the organization. This includes the production of financial reports for internal and external use, expansion and consolidation of existing accounting systems, access to capital, and a comprehensive set of business controls and budgets designed to enhance the optimize the company’s financial profitability.


Job Responsibilities:


·        The CFO will be a member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for synchronizing many parts of the business, including finance, accounting, taxes, investment, purchasing/pricing, and organizational accountability.

·        Manage accounting needs for various business divisions ranging from development to property management to multi-million-dollar construction projects.

·        Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures. Strengthen internal controls, policies and procedures, cash and credit management, administration, human resources, and other activities.

·        Provide financial analysis as needed, particularly for real estate investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations. Present project financial feasibility to company principals for investment decisions.

·        Develop and implement overall financial strategy, aligning it with business objectives to drive growth and profitability. Provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations to each TFV division and the senior leadership team.

·        Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial projections. Analyze variances and trends, identify opportunities for cost optimization, and provide actionable recommendations to improve financial performance.

·        Oversee the preparation and distribution of accurate, timely, and comprehensive financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

·        Coordinate with external audit firms on project audits and cost certifications for projects where HUD financing is used or other lenders require.

·        Implement effective cash flow management practices, ensuring adequate liquidity to support operations and capital investments. Develop and execute strategies to optimize working capital and minimize financial risk.

·        Identify and evaluate financial risks and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies to include company bonding capability. Monitor and control financial exposure through effective financial controls, policies, and procedures.

·        Work with COO on management of corporate risk transfer with company insurance program.

·        Maintain supervision over all financial operations, including accounting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, tax planning, and treasury management. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting principles.

·        Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, and legal advisors, to manage financial relationships that are critical to the future success of company and to fulfill internal and external reporting requirements.

·        Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of the company finance and accounting team, including payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable, general ledger, and human resources. Provide guidance, feedback, and mentoring to team members to foster professional growth in a high-performing culture.

·        Set common standards for finance functions embedded in divisional companies.

·        Establish new and maintain existing banking relationships. Consolidate bank accounts where possible to optimize bank expenses while pushing for integration of innovative technologies and security provided by banks into company operations.

·        Provide overall treasury management including monitoring bank account balances and initiate EFT/wire transfers as needed. Document accounting records to record these transactions.

·        Collaborate with Company Divisions on all major loans from application to loan closing to ensure smooth transactions; understand and track financial metrics of various loans to ensure specific goals are achieved. Monitor debt levels and maintain compliance with debt covenants.

·        Oversee tax return preparation for all entities under the TFV umbrella as well as annual tax filings to vendors (1099s) and employees (W-2s). Assist with tax planning issues for both company and personal tax issues of the Principles of the Company.

·        Build upon and maintain a platform of financial reporting across all Divisions. Coordinate with Family Office President on annual PFS for TFV Principals that will be sent to lending institutions throughout the year.

·        Collaborate with Sureties and Banks on securing Bonding requirements by compiling and providing financial statements/information as required. Coordinating with 3rd Party CPA’s on all reviewed and audited financial statements for the general contracting division

·        Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards.

·        Align each TFV department’s budgeting, job costs, accounts receivable/payable process by continuing to evolve and integrate Yardi Elevate, Procure-to Pay, Construction module platforms. Manage existing accounting systems (QuickBooks, Timberline) as you work towards integration of all accounting system into Yardi.

·        Manage company entity filings, annual reports, and EIN establishment, etc. related to corporate administration.

They will collaborate with the CEO and the executive team to make decisions regarding company's financial strategy and operations. The candidate will possess a strong background in finance and management.

  • 7 - 10 years' of finance experience
  • CPA or MBA preferred but not required
