Position Overview: The Regional General Manager will oversee and coordinate all operational aspects of our recycling facilities within a designated region. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficiency, profitability, and growth of our operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving performance, implementing strategic initiatives, and fostering a culture of excellence and safety across all sites.


Key Responsibilities:


Operational Leadership:

  • Manage and optimize the daily operations of multiple scrap metal recycling facilities within the region.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance productivity, efficiency, and profitability.


Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage the regional budget, including forecasting, cost control, and financial performance analysis.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as necessary to achieve financial goals.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to review financial reports and drive improvements.


Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop regional management teams and staff to achieve high levels of performance and engagement.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, set objectives, and provide feedback and support for professional growth.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.


Strategic Planning:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute regional business plans and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and market expansion strategies.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.


Customer and Community Relations:

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with key customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Represent Alter Trading at regional industry events and community functions.
  • Address and resolve any customer issues or complaints promptly and effectively.


Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure adherence to all legal, environmental, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on regional performance, including operational metrics, financial results, and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a senior management role within the scrap metal recycling industry.
  • Strong understanding of recycling operations, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, drive financial performance, and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Proficiency in using operational and financial management software.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the region.
