Key Responsibilities for the Lease Accountant:

As a Lease Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Lease/Data Entry: Enter each individual lease into an Excel file that uploads into the system, ensuring each asset from a contract is separated into individual line items and uploaded into the ERP.
  • Lease Accounting: Oversee lease accounting activities, adjusting entries to reflect lease trailers as individual assets.
  • Manage Fixed Assets: Execute detailed reconciliations and ensure accurate capitalization of fixed assets.
  • Intercompany Transactions: Facilitate seamless movement of journal entries between entities, ensuring accurate billing for maintenance and leases by customer
  • Reconcile AP: Ensure accurate billing against vendors; Reconcile cash entries with AP's expense account entries; Verify all expenses are correctly booked and reconciled with the software.
  • Month-End: Conduct heavy analytics and book journal entries for all leases entered throughout the month and verify all bookings on the income statement are done correctly.
  • GAAP Expertise: Apply your comprehensive understanding of GAAP to manage prepaids and accruals effectively.
  • Excel Mastery: Utilize advanced Excel functions to handle large data sets efficiently.
  • Detail-oriented Work: Maintain precision in handling accruals and lease accounting amidst significant growth.
  • Collaborate: Work across multiple entities, managing extensive intercompany transactions with finesse. Collaborate with managers and other teammates to obtain accurate information

Essential Lease Accountant Qualifications:

Must-Haves:

  • Advanced Excel Skills: Proficiency in VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP for managing complex data.
  • Strong GAAP Knowledge: Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Reconciliation Expertise: Proven experience in reconciliations and journal entry management.
  • Specific ASC842 Experience: Expertise in lease accounting under ASC842.
  • Fixed Asset Accounting: Strong experience preparing entries for fixed assets, and amortization and depreciation schedules.

Pluses:

  • NetSuite Proficiency: Familiarity with NetSuite software.
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance: Preferred but not required.
  • Industry Experience: Logistics or start-up environment experience is advantageous.
