Summary

The Project Manager has the overall responsibility for the assigned project including but not limited to customer relationship management, PO management (estimating / quoting, scope changes, invoicing, etc.), planning, execution, heal monitoring (quality, on time delivery, etc), and associated closure activities. The Project Manager will serve as the main point of contact for IIA with the customer and lead their assigned team of resources to accomplish the defined work scope as assigned by the Lab Manager. To ensure success, the Project Manager will be required to work across multiple levels and functions of the organization including but not limited to sales, quality, safety, procurement, and engineering ensuring compliance to applicable standards, regulations, and regulatory agencies.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and quality procedures, laws, regulations, and customer requirements. Own safety stopping the job if required due to unsafe conditions or lack of compliance to quality requirements. Perform day to day and routine safety observations and inspections.
  • Be the leader and primary point of contact managing all operational aspects of the assigned project / scope ensuring safe, quality, on time, and on budget delivery for the customer and company. Components include but are not limited to the following items:
  • Prepare bids, proposals, and estimates and review applicable contracts as they apply to the item being prepared.
  • Hold regular project meetings / operational readiness sessions to ensuring a clear understanding of the scope, updates, and / or changes to the scope of work.
  • Coordinate and implement project specifications, making detailed plans to accomplish customer goals within the designated time constraints.
  • Identify risks at the start of the project, mitigate those risks, and monitor frequently to identify risks before they arise or develop into larger issues.
  • Track project costs as they relate to the estimate / budget or stretch budget as provided by company management. Identify areas of potential scope / cost creep in advance and raise up to company management.
  • Prepare reports as required such as daily reports and final project reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all company and statutory procedures, standards, and specifications.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
  • Monitor suppliers working with purchasing if / as required including site visits to ensure the project objectives are met.
  • Support on-site execution including being at site as required for the on-site implementation phase of the assigned project / scope.
  • Support the organization to develop innovative methods for improving team performance and profitability.
  • Support the sales process from opportunity targeting through proposal development with the sales function.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field and 4 years or more of experience in project management role.
  • Excellent problem solving and time management skills.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge.
  • Able to lead others and communicate clearly working across multiple layers of organizations.
  • Able to work and lead as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize work, analyze, and solve problems, and complete paperwork accurately.
  • Experience working independently under pressure performing multiple tasks and meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Strong Microsoft Office programs skills including skills to navigate web-based service literature and programs.
  • Advanced written and oral communication demonstrating good interpersonal skills in building effective working relationships with customers, subordinates, and peers.
  • Willing to travel domestically.
  • US Citizenship and be able to satisfy all US Government security requirements.

Desired Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in NDE and manufacturing fields.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
  • Professional Project Management certification.

Working Conditions

  • The position works in multiple work and weather environments ranging from an indoor office / laboratory environment to and outdoor oil field to power plant to other industrial facilities.
  • The position may occasionally be exposed to acetone, solvents, grease, cutting fluids, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic and / or caustic chemicals.
  • May be exposed to ionizing radiation.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and / or push up to 50 lbs.
  • Must meet vision requirements for the job, including near vision, color vision, and depth perception.
