Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Control Gaging, Inc. is a leading global manufacturer specializing in measurement and process controls for the machining industry. Serving diverse sectors including automotive, heavy truck, construction vehicles, bearings, motorcycles, electric motors, and aerospace, we design and manufacture in-process gauges that offer real-time part measurement feedback, enhancing machining precision.

Our product range encompasses ID, OD, disc, and centerless grinder gauges, alongside solutions for turning, polishing, superfinishing machines, and other critical machining processes. We also develop integrated gauge systems for seamless part measurement during material handling, eliminating the need for separate gauging operations.

Currently, we are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our team. This role involves installation, repair, and training on our measurement systems, providing essential field service support and leveraging expertise in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting at customer sites. Our Field Service Engineers collaborate closely with our engineering and R&D departments to innovate and improve products for our global clientele.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to customers via phone and email.
  • Install equipment at customer facilities.
  • Perform on-site repairs and technical support.
  • Conduct operator and repair training for customers.
  • Assist other departments at Control Gaging, Inc. as needed.

Travel Requirements:

  • 50% travel (Monday through Friday).
  • Includes a company service car for local travel.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

Qualification Requirements: To excel in this role, candidates must satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed above. Key qualifications include:

  • Completion, or near completion, of a minimum 2-year Associates program or AAS from an accredited college or technical school.
  • Preferred degrees in Electronics Engineering, Controls Technology, Robotics, or Automated Manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in understanding various manual, electrical, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts professionally to customers.
  • Ability to solve problems independently, interpret complex machine control diagrams, and apply mathematical concepts including algebra and geometry.

Physical Demands: The role demands active participation, including standing, walking, bending and kneeling. The ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds is necessary, and tasks on a computer may require extended periods of sitting. Visual acuity and adjustment capabilities are essential.
