Responsibilities:

  • Identify risks and failure modes of novel products and designs using first principles thinking and scientific methodologies. Design and construct mechanical test setups and develop appropriate test methodologies based on the analysis.
  • Define test methods, measurement procedures, and establish controls. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine pass/fail criteria.
  • Lead Test Engineers and technicians to achieve project goals.
  • Optimize test throughput and data collection through automation.
  • Document test specifications and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with equipment/test engineers and vendors to specify and procure new test equipment.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent. A Master's degree or Ph.D. is advantageous.
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical system design, development, or testing in robotic, automotive, aerospace, or related industries.
  • Thorough experience in the design and/or testing of electro-mechanical and robotic systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD, such as Catia, 3DX, or Solidworks is a must.
  • Expert knowledge of physics and engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in understanding principles and experience in selecting and implementing various sensor types (force sensors, load cells, thermocouples, accelerometers, etc.) and actuators (pneumatic, electrical, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Labview, Python, or Matlab.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software like Excel, Minitab, and/or JMP.
  • Ability to quickly extract essential information, translate it into the right actions, identify effective methods to obtain necessary answers, and drive to completion in a rapid yet organized manner.
  • Eagerness to engage in hands-on activities, comprehend system interactions, and automate repetitive tasks.
  • Demonstrated resilience, proactivity, and a positive mindset when facing challenging circumstances.
