About the job

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead for Optical Systems Test to join our growing team. This position will be the technical lead for optical systems test development for our 800G and beyond optical transceiver products. You will work across our technical teams and help us to deliver Lumilens’ family of optical transceiver solutions to market.


Responsibilities:

  • Define, design, implement, and perform verification testing of fiberoptic transceivers and subassemblies.
  • As part of the engineering development team, develop test plans covering scope, test methods, and project timelines for verification testing.
  • Implement best practices for providing traceability of test results to product requirements and design intent.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to evaluate new technologies, components, and functionality for potential inclusion into future designs.
  • Develop test methods for high-volume manufacturing test solutions
  • Provide design-for-test inputs to the product development team
  • Participate in all stages of design reviews, providing test coverage assessment and assessment of associated risks.


Required / Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering/Physics or equivalent education with experience in optical communications, photonics, high-speed electronics or systems
  • 7+ years experience of optical transceiver testing
  • Extensive experience characterizing optical transceiver and subassembly performance.
  • Deep understanding of optical communications systems
  • Deep understanding of optical communications fundamentals
  • Deep understanding of DVT requirements and test methods for high-speed optical transceivers.
  • Experience developing automated test solutions for optical systems.
  • Strong debug and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to work effectively with internal cross-functional teams, external suppliers, and customers
  • Proficient in Python for hardware test automation and data collection
  • Excellent data analysis skills, including a strong understanding of statistical analysis principles.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a dynamic start-up environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with SQL and JMP highly desirable
  • Candidate will be required to spend the majority of time in our San Jose, California office.
