Public Relations Communications Manager

To develop and maintain positive relationships within the community with elected officials, leaders of business industry, educational institutions, and the media for all Daikin America sites. Promote a positive image of Daikin within the community. Leads communication and social media activities for Daikin America.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 10 years of experience in Public Relations or related field.
  • Effective communication skills in writing and speaking.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Personal leadership skills.


Essential Functions:

  • Develops and maintains relationships and maintains open communications with organizations outside Daikin America, such as other DIL divisions, neighboring businesses and industries, economic development organizations, local schools, and authorities such as police, fire, EMS, etc.
  • Works closely with Legal and Executive Leadership on sensitive Company issues (regulatory, etc.) and prepares proactive and reactive communications, as necessary.
  • Supports the DAI Advocacy group to ensure effective communications with all parties (Daikin global, local/state/federal government, trade organizations, NGO’s, etc.).
  • Responds to media requests and serves as the face of Daikin to local news organizations.
  • Participates in activities of various professional organizations for the purpose of exchanging information and keeping current on the latest developments in community and employee relations and includes other DAI members as needed.
  • Develops and assists with programs which maintain Daikin’s positive image and identity in the community (all DAI locations).
  • Supports Daikin America team in publishing internal communications.
  • Maintains social media presence on Facebook, Daikinalabama.com, and other approved social media platforms.
  • Keeps current on economic conditions, policies, and changes affecting area business and government, and informs management of key learnings.
  • Produces information to support grants and other applications.
  • Serves as a member of the Daikin Communications Committee.
  • Develops and controls Communications budget and Charitable Donations budget.
  • Plans and coordinates employee outreach opportunities to the community at all Daikin locations.
  • Facilitates good clear communications among the DAI team, practicing open and transparent leadership where information is shared freely among all employees.
  • Leads and coordinates major community-aimed programs across DAI such as Daikin Cultural Exchange in Japan (DCEJ), Minority Scholarship program, and Daikin Festival.
  • Selects, trains, develops, and organizes any subordinate staff to perform and meet department responsibilities and objectives effectively.
  • Prompt, regular, and dependable attendance.
  • Additional assignments as deemed necessary by management.
