SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the merchandising department by performing the following duties:


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Assists in developing and selecting merchandise which supports overall department sales volume, gross margin and turnover objectives.

· Creates, submits and tracks purchase order worksheets.

· Records PO number on worksheet and checks for accuracy at the keypunch level.

· Assists in identifying slow sellers and markdown process.

· Corresponds with suppliers for shipping details. Reports delivery issues to buyer.

· Obtains samples for approval prior to shipping.

· Accompanies buyer to the market and assists in product selection.

· Creates and maintains Excel spreadsheet based reports.

· Maintains professional relationships with external suppliers and internal partners via telephone, fax, email and face-to-face meetings.

· Communicates to vendors daily regarding purchase orders, amendments, traffic issues, as well as any pre-ticketing issues.

· Manages designated sample closet by organizing samples so they are easily found.

· Prepares merchandise for presentations/meetings with the merchandising teams.

· Investigates and respond to store issues.

· Filing and special projects, as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising or related field, 2 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and understand documents such as general correspondence, department reports, OTB reports and office procedures/memos. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and fellow associates.
