Griffin Resources is recruiting on behalf of a client in the manufacturing industry for a Human Resources Generalist (On-site) in Largo, FL.


GENERAL DESCRIPTION 


The HR Generalist’s primary focus is to maintain company culture through the hiring process and employee relations, assist with the organization’s daily administrative functions; including staffing, strategic planning with top executives, and dealing with employee questions and concerns, among other functions. Promote and implement human resource values. The HR Generalist will work on tasks and problems of a complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. This role will exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine the appropriate course of action. Work is reviewed through observation and results obtained. The HR Generalist is also responsible for the payroll functions of the company, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices. 

• Perform research and routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to: compensation, benefits and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; productivity; occupational health and safety; and training and development. 

• Guide management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating Policies & Procedures, Employee Handbook, selection methods, guidelines, etc. 

• Ensure the organization's compliance with local, state and federal regulations by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. 

• Assist in new employee on-boarding and orientation. 

• Employee relations, including processing complaint/claim investigations, disciplinary actions and resolutions. 

• Provide counseling/mentoring to employees and managers and facilitate grievance resolution. 

• Communicate and enforce organization’s values, by providing human resources advice and counsel. 

• Conduct exit interviews and recommend corrective action. 

• Provide support for all HR related activities. 

• Participate in company community events as directed. 

• Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees and management. 

• Coordinate open enrollments, changes, and training for employee benefits programs.

• Create and distribute internal communications regarding status changes, benefits, and/or company policies. 

• Maintain employee personnel records both electronically and paper form; maintain required databases. 

• Conduct background checks, drug screenings, process E-Verify, and any other employee eligibility verifications. 

• Ensure job descriptions are accurate for all employees and compliant with local, state and federal regulations. 

• Review, track and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, as well as continuing education. 

• Act as liaison between employee and Benefits if necessary to provide guidance and problem resolution. 

• Process all STD, LTD, FMLA, LOA, and Workers Compensations claims; processes applicable paperwork and disability claims if needed. 

• Responds to the DOL pertaining to unemployment information requests and or claims. 

• Billing reconciliation for all benefits offered. Ensure employees are being expensed to correct accounts, enrollments/terminations are correct, update push notifications in payroll system for the file feeds in place. 

• Monitor employee 401k deferrals, bi-weekly/quarterly ER Matching contributions are correct, loan/distribution requests, enrollments, terminations and retirement as required or notifications are received. 

• Prepare 401K Plan Year End Testing/Questionnaire annually for Form 5500 filing, maintain plan documents and required employee notices by law, enrollments, terminations and retirement. 

• Top Workplaces Set-up, employee population upload, surveys and results. 

• Prepare census and required documentation annually for general liability and workers comp insurance audits. 

• R&D Study. Prepare census and required documentation annually. 

• Annual Benefits Renewal. Prepare census and required documentation to Broker. Obtain new plans, rates for set-up in Benefits Administration. 

• Perform required testing prior to open enrollment to ensure rates, tiers, age bands, etc. are correct for employees electing coverage.

• Payroll System Year End Reporting. Review all previews for W2’s, 1099’s, and ACA to ensure accuracy before rolling the current year over. Report any discrepancies or errors; resolve prior to print date.


Payroll responsibilities: 

• Responsible for payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. 

• Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes. 

• Responsible for assuring that all time-cards are accurate and coded correctly before payroll processing. 

• Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports

• Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions. 

• Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors. 

• Ensure that pay practices comply with the fair Labor Standards Act and other applicable wage and hour regulations. 

• Reviews employee data and approves transactions in Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to ensure data integrity necessary for reporting and analysis. 

• Responsible for the preparation of Total Compensation Statements. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive and you may not be responsible for every item


QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. 

• PHR or SPHR Certification preferred. 

• Specialized training in employment law, compensation, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations preferred. • Three (3) to five (5) years of Human Resources experience. 

• Prior experience with payroll processing and generating payroll reports is required. 

• Benefits administration experience preferred. • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing involvement preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the human resources field.

• Ability to create reports, respond to surveys, create statistical summaries, and to write and revise policies, letters, memos, etc.

• Knowledge of ADA, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation and FLSA to ensure proper adherence. Assist supervisors to make decisions on various issues within the guidelines of local, state and federal laws and regulations.

• Ability to prioritize and respond to changing needs as they arise. 

• Experience with HRMS/HRIS systems. 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. 

• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality. 

• Ability to perform all functions of the job classification without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
