This position entails leading the development of structural components for highway transportation engineering projects. Responsibilities include overseeing project lifecycle phases from inception to construction, providing technical guidance to junior engineers, and ensuring high-quality project deliverables. Additionally, this role involves contributing to project scoping and proposal writing efforts.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as Structures Design Lead and/or Project Manager for a multitude of transportation projects.
- Prepare project calculations, drawings, cost estimates, and specifications as part of project deliverables.
- Lead bridge inspections, conduct condition assessments, and generate bridge condition reports.
- Conduct detailed checks, oversee quality control reviews, and ensure adherence to project schedule milestones.
- Provide structural engineering support during project construction, including review of shop drawings and contractor submittals.
- Assist in defining project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Develop project work plans and schedules.
- Maintain professional registration and licensure.
- Stay informed about federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances relevant to the discipline.
- Provide technical guidance and assign tasks to junior and support staff throughout project duration.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred) from an ABET accredited program, or equivalent experience, with a focus on structural engineering design.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in designing complex bridge superstructures and various bridge types (curved, skewed, arch, cable-stay) and familiarity with advanced analysis methods.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Microstation/OpenBridge/OpenRoads, MathCad, LEAP Bridge, MDX, LPILE, and LARSA (or equivalent FEM software).
