About the Role:

As a Product Engineer, you will design and improve commercial air distribution and HVAC products using SolidWorks and sound engineering principles. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create efficient, cost-effective designs, manage engineering data, and support prototype development. Your work will help ensure product quality and innovation, contributing to the continuous improvement of our product lines.


Responsibilities:

  • Create parts, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks modeling software.
  • Utilize SolidWorks PDM software to manage and maintain engineering data.
  • Use VBA to automate the creation of SolidWorks files for documenting new product designs, including managing advanced file functions within PDM.
  • Develop, refine, and complete models and drawings for special product requests, gaining approval from Product Managers, clients, and manufacturing engineers.
  • Create and update drawings and BOMs for missing or outdated product documentation.
  • Respond to Engineering Change Requests by releasing drawing and modeling packages on schedule.
  • Review Corrective Action and Deviation Requests from production facilities, providing recommendations for action.
  • Develop and maintain product design schedules through a phase gate process.
  • Evaluate, update, and improve engineering procedures.
  • Test and evaluate software or firmware used by engineering teams.
  • Answer technical questions from clients, OEM representatives, and manufacturing engineers regarding grilles, registers, diffusers (GRDs), and terminal units (TUs), and how these products integrate into HVAC systems.
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering Department to streamline and optimize production standards and processes.
  • Interface with manufacturing plants to ensure design specifications are maintained, identify waste, and recommend improvements.
  • Create and monitor project status reports to ensure timely completion of engineering tasks.
  • Initiate and oversee prototype or test model development as required.
  • Test, evaluate, and compare competitor products, materials, designs, performance, and applications.
  • Participate in industry meetings, seminars, and training sessions, staying updated on technology and industry standards such as AMCA, UL, DOE, ASHRAE, and AHRI committees.
  • Generate technical reports, graphs, and marketing illustrations that define and illustrate system performance and operating characteristics.
  • Actively mentor Designers and less experienced Product Engineers.
  • Review and analyze product performance data from laboratory testing.


Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.Strong attention to detail with the ability to creatively problem-solve using available resources and information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility to manage multiple projects and assignments.
  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM and VBA for process automation.
  • Proficiency in technical reporting, data analysis, and creating marketing illustrations to support product development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with manufacturing engineers and production teams.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the HVAC industry or with related products, including grilles, registers, diffusers, and terminal units.
