Foundry Process Engineer


The Foundry Process Engineer will play a pivotal role in refining and advancing the casting procedures while working in tandem with diverse teams to guarantee the production of superior automotive components. This position emphasizes a commitment to continuous improvement and cost efficiency.

The engineer will utilize engineering methodologies to design and enhance casting operations, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Design casting methodologies with a focus on safety and risk assessment.


• Implement effective solutions to uphold casting quality, minimize scrap, and prevent defective materials from progressing through production.

• Optimize casting operations to achieve production objectives.

• Analyze production inefficiencies and formulate & execute strategies for enhancement.

• Select, design, and deploy suitable tools, machinery, and fixtures to meet production demands.


• Develop a high level of expertise in all tooling, materials, and equipment necessary for the casting process, guiding cross-functional teams towards successful outcomes.

• Create and maintain comprehensive process documentation (PFMEA, Setup Sheets, Check Sheets), including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.

• Educate team members on equipment operation, adjustments, changeovers, and troubleshooting.


• Oversee projects related to new machinery, upgrades, and automation initiatives, managing all phases of project management to ensure timely completion.


• Lead and engage in continuous improvement initiatives, employing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to minimize waste and boost productivity; monitor projects to ensure completion and cost savings.

• Support quality assurance efforts to maintain compliance with industry standards.

• Develop and revise facility and equipment layouts.

• Provide technical support to fellow engineers or engineering staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

• 3-5 years of experience in metal casting, preferably with aluminum

• Proficient in 3D CAD software

• Basic understanding of automotive engineering standards (IATF 16949 and/or VDA 6.3, etc.)
