Caterpillar Building Construction Products Division, located in Sanford, North Carolina, is the design headquarters for CTL/SSL (Compact Track Loader / Skid Steer Loader) machines. The CTL/SSL Hydraulics System Team is seeking a motivated person to fill the role of a Senior Engineer position. The mission of the Team is to provide value to our global customers both internally and externally by helping design, develop, understand, optimize, test, validate, and support CTL/SSL hydraulic systems.

As a Senior Engineer in the CTL/SSL Hydraulic System Team, you will begin to shift from learning and assisting to fully contributing to solving technical problems while growing your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts. You will partner with and provide technical guidance to global teams. You will continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology. You will also continue to grow your professional network.

What You Will Do:

Test and develop new system through component solutions. Research and explore new technology. Develop original or innovative approaches to engineering design, cost reduction, and problem solving. Create, propose, and lead new hydraulic system design projects for future and current product solutions. Promote quality and continuous improvement philosophy. Create test plans for validating design solutions and document results. Support and assist production assembly line and product field support personnel in troubleshooting hydraulic issues. Participate in supplier collaboration and design review meetings. Deepen your knowledge base of Caterpillar products, technologies, processes, services, and systems. Organize and prioritize work assignments to complete assignments/tasks on time.

What You Have (Basic Qualifications):

Degree : Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum OR extensive experience in hydraulics. Technical Excellence: Relevant hydraulic engineering work experience or design of off-highway construction machines. Computer-Aided Design & Engineering : Basic knowledge of 3D modeling software, ideally ProE/Creo. Effective Communications : Must be able to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the workgroup, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers. Emphasis on initiative and self-starting tasks. Analytical Thinking : Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capability.

Top Candidates Will Have :

Master’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum. Basic knowledge in the following: Testing and data acquisition tools DATK (Data Acquisition Tool Kit) Simulation and analysis of hydraulic systems (i.e. Dynasty) Machine operation CANape (use and knowledge)

Additional Info :

Domestic relocation is available to those who qualify. 10% domestic travel is expected. ISE assignments are not available. Visa sponsorship is not available.
