Day to day: Charlotte Water Technology is seeking an Industrial Control System (ICS) Server Administrator that is responsible for the operational technology server infrastructure and associated applications that support our plant and field control systems. As a member of ICS Technology, this position will work in conjunction with Charlotte Water Maintenance Division to provide 7x24 operational and life cycle technology support for our ICS server related infrastructure. Responsible for configuring, maintaining, and administering physical and virtual servers, Windows Server and Ubuntu Server operating systems, installing hardware and software upgrades and patches, and advanced troubleshooting. Additional responsibilities may include business continuity/disaster recovery planning and testing, administering systems such as VMWare vSphere, VEEAM, Dell iDRAC, Ubuntu Landscape, centralized and multi-factor authentication administration, etc., complex implementation projects, and training or reviewing the work of lower levels in the career family. Ability to:

  • Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Interpret application requirements
  • Engineer, build and test server solutions for optimal function and reliability
  • Mitigate security risks and ensure server compliance with policies and procedures
  • Work on installations, upgrades, and root cause analysis of service outages
  • Provide strategic planning, server design, and technical oversight of ICS servers
