Position Overview: As a Microsoft 365 Certified Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer Associate, you will play a critical role in enhancing collaboration and communication within a Microsoft 365 environment. Your primary responsibility is to manage, configure, and optimize Microsoft Teams Telephony, ensuring that internal and external communications are efficient and effective. Your role will encompass a wide range of tasks, from managing team structures to configuring advanced calling features and implementing governance policies.



Key Responsibilities:


  • License Management
  • Possess a deep understanding of the licensing requirements for Microsoft Teams devices, including the ability to determine the appropriate licenses based on the desired telephony capabilities.
  • Skillfully attach and apply the correct licenses to user profiles within Microsoft Teams, ensuring that each profile is configured with the necessary features for telephony services.
  • Efficiently manage Teams telephony licenses, applying them to individual Teams user profiles. Understand the exceptions for common area phones, where licenses are directly tied to the phone itself.
  • Expertly attach resource licenses to specific phone numbers, ensuring that all phone-related functionalities are properly licensed and operational within the Teams environment.
  • Ensure proper voice enablement of users through the Set-CsPhoneNumberAssignment cmdlet and manage licensing requirements.


  • PSTN Connectivity Setup
  • Choose and configure a PSTN connectivity option, including Microsoft Calling Plan, Operator Connect, Teams Phone Mobile, or Direct Routing.
  • Collaborate with PSTN carriers or service providers to establish connectivity.


  • Phone Number Management
  • Select and assign phone numbers for users and services, including toll and toll-free numbers.
  • Manage phone number assignments for auto attendants and call queues.
  • Oversee resource account creation and service number assignments.


  • Emergency Calling Configuration
  • Set up emergency calling capabilities, including defining and assigning emergency locations.
  • Implement dynamic emergency calling as required and ensure compliance with emergency services protocols.


  • Auto Attendant and Call Queue Setup
  • Configure auto attendants to guide callers to the appropriate department or person.
  • Set up and manage call queues, including greetings, hold music, and call distribution.


  • Feature Configuration
  • Implement and manage additional Teams Phone features such as cloud voicemail, caller ID, call forwarding, and delegation.
  • Adjust calling policies to meet organizational needs.


  • Deployment and Monitoring
  • Oversee the deployment process of Teams Phone, including device management and user training.
  • Monitor call quality and performance, and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  • Maintain documentation related to configuration and deployment.


  • Management of Microsoft Teams Devices Using Microsoft Intune:
  • Utilize Microsoft Intune to manage Microsoft 365 Teams devices, ensuring that all devices comply with security policies and are aligned with DoD Zero Trust policies and principles.
  • Implement and enforce security configurations and compliance policies on Teams devices through Intune, ensuring they meet the stringent requirements of the DoD Zero Trust framework.
  • Continuously monitor and assess the security posture of Teams devices, applying necessary updates and adjustments to maintain compliance with DoD Zero Trust policies.


  • Support and Troubleshooting
  • Provide ongoing support for Teams Phone users, addressing and resolving any technical issues.
  • Work with other IT team members to integrate Teams Phone with other organizational systems.
  • Maintain documentation related to configuration and deployment



Qualifications


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in managing Microsoft Teams devices such as Microsoft Teams Rooms, Teams Phones, Poly Studios, and other collaboration tools.
  • Certifications: Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate or Microsoft 365 Certified: Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer Associate.



  • Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Teams Phone features and functionalities.
  • Experience with PSTN connectivity options and configuration.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell for managing Teams Phone settings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
