The Director of Procurement will be responsible for developing and executing the procurement strategy to ensure the cost-effective acquisition of capacity and services essential for their 3PL operations. This role involves strategic sourcing, carrier relationship management, and continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence and enhance the company's competitive edge.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing and Procurement Planning
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify and leverage emerging trends and opportunities in the logistics industry.
  • Lead the procurement team in sourcing and negotiating contracts with vendors, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
Vendor Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors.
  • Evaluate vendor performance regularly and manage risk to ensure continuity of capacity.
  • Develop and implement vendor management programs to drive performance improvements and cost reductions.
Cost Management and Budget
  • Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or service levels.
  • Monitor procurement spend and generate regular reports on cost savings and procurement activities.
Operational Excellence and Compliance
  • Ensure procurement processes and policies are compliant with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Implement best practices in procurement to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to streamline procurement processes and improve service delivery.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the procurement department.
  • Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes and systems.
  • Leverage technology and data analytics to optimize procurement activities and decision-making.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and innovations and integrate relevant advancements into the procurement strategy.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the logistics or 3PL industry.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful procurement strategies.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards in the logistics industry.
