Role Description

EJ'S Luncheonette is seeking to hire a full-time Executive Sous Chef at our location in New York City, NY. The Executive Sous Chef will be responsible for assisting the head chef with menu development, food purchasing, staff management, and kitchen operations. In addition, the Executive Sous Chef will work closely with the culinary team to help maintain a high level of food quality, as well as to design and implement new dishes that meet our customers' ever-changing needs. The Sous Chef must be enthusiastic about creating food that guests will remember and rave about.


Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited culinary program or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of culinary experience in high-volume kitchens
  • Strong skillset in all areas of the kitchen including food preparation, cooking, and plating
  • Demonstrated proficiency in butchery, pastry, and/or garde manger
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and management
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy items, and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Resume should show jobs with greater than 3 years of longevity
