MEP Construction Inspector

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the position is to provide construction observation services for the Southwest Florida International Airport terminal expansion project. This is a full-time position with benefits. The key responsibility for this position is to document the progress of the contractor and various subcontractors for the owner. Since this position is in construction, which can be an unpredictable field, the hours will vary from week to week. The hours will depend on the workload and the weather and will more than likely consist of early mornings and spending the day in the Florida heat.


Key Responsibilities Include

  • Act as a liaison between the client and all contractors/ subcontractors
  • Attend conferences and meetings
  • Collect and log shop drawings, RFIs, RFCs, pay requests, Correspondence, etc
  • Inspect and monitor contractor activities
  • Maintain a daily construction log
  • Take progress photos
  • Monitor contractor's quality control plan
  • Coordinate subconsultant's field work
  • Verify the contractor's completion of the punch list
  • Administer change orders as necessary

Requirements

  • Ability to pass an FBI background check
  • Drug free
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear and effective written communication to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, high priority tasks and to adjust to shifting priorities
  • Willingness to work nights for extended periods on an as needed basis
  • Ability to be standing and walking for prolonged periods


Qualifications

  • 5+ years MEP experience on large commercial and/or airport construction experience
  • US citizen or valid work Visa
