Job Summary:

Johnson Engineering Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Construction Inspector to oversee the construction of various land development projects, including commercial, residential, industrial, medical, and institutional developments, as well as their associated roadways, pedestrian facilities, drainage, and utilities.

Daily travel is required within the Southwest Florida area, and a company vehicle will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site inspections to ensure that construction procedures are followed and materials used are in conformance with plans and specifications.
  • Measure distances to verify the accuracy of dimensions of installations and layouts for roadways, parking lots, drainage, and utilities.
  • Review plans and construction staking for ADA compliance.
  • Verify the alignment and elevation of infrastructure installations to confirm they are being installed according to plan location.
  • Interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents and communicate requirements to clients and contractors.
  • Maintain a daily log of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports.
  • Track progress and quantity of construction work items.
  • Perform and document testing of certain construction work items as defined in the contract documents.
  • Review project plans for land development projects and provide comments on potential construction conflicts and provide feedback to engineers.

Requirements:

  • Construction experience is required in roadway, drainage, underground utilities.
  • Pay will be commensurate with experience level.
  • 10 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Must have an excellent driving record, be at least 21 years of age, and have a valid Florida driver's license.
