Summary:

Reporting to the Development Director for BBCH, the MCCP Development Manager organizes and directs events and general development activities which support the operations of the Maine Children‘s Cancer Program, provides extensive coordination with ongoing development initiatives of Maine Medical Center while simultaneously working with the MCCP Advisory Board, volunteers, corporate sponsors, and community organizations on a wide variety of MCCP fundraising events. Position responsibilities include event management and implementation, direct solicitation of individuals and business sponsors, oral and written presentations and event budget oversight.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: Bachelor‘s Degree and continuous professional development in philanthropy and/or any related fields.

2. License/Certifications: CFRE preferred.

3. Experience: Previous philanthropy experience in a nonprofit environment at a level normally acquired with five to seven years‘ experience, including direct gift procurement, or experience in a closely related field, including donor and volunteer relations.

4. Excellent communication, writing, research, and public speaking skills required.

5. Advanced interpersonal skills required to negotiate and work effectively with a variety of potential donors on complex and sensitive issues, including volunteer management.

6. Ability to assess donor capacity and intent and strategize donor stewardship and cultivation activities which will lead to donations and event sponsorships.

7. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for solicitation, event management and donor and volunteer meetings.
