Job Description:

Our Client is seeking a skilled Civil Estimator to join our team. As a Take Off Specialist & Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing budgets, estimates, and pre-bid packages for construction projects, with a primary focus on take-off work and change orders. You will manage bidders' lists, solicit and evaluate subcontractor proposals, and review project plans and specifications for constructability and value engineering, focusing mainly on CSI divisions two and three.


Essential Functions:

  • Perform accurate and timely quantity takeoffs using company formats for all CSI division systems at various project stages.
  • Develop clear and concise clarifications and assumptions.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while multitasking effectively.
  • Obtain and clarify plans and specifications as needed.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews.
  • Analyze plan documents and prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Gather current pricing information from databases, contractors, and suppliers to develop accurate unit costs.
  • Review and adjust estimated unit cost pricing to reflect market conditions and project specifics.
  • Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment vendors to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Conduct value management analysis and technical/plan reviews.
  • Utilize knowledge of building designs, systems, and construction materials to guide clients to viable solutions.
  • Ensure accuracy in the historical database and assist with purchasing or buyout duties if needed.
  • Support project management with subcontractor and vendor pricing input.
  • Proficiently use estimating software and other computer programs.
  • Facilitate communication between clients, staff, and contractors.
  • Present findings and changes to clients and build effective relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Meet deadlines and ensure high-quality work.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of preconstruction and/or operations experience on commercial construction projects, or 8+ years in a related field.
  • Knowledgeable in civil/site construction, foundation systems, structural systems, interior finishes, exterior wall systems, and mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with structural concrete, shoring, and various construction details.
  • Strong organizational, management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop new skills quickly and adapt to changing situations.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., MC2), Microsoft Office products, and other relevant tools.


Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based with periodic off-site meetings.
  • Must be performance-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must enjoy working on diverse tasks and adapting to evolving project requirements.
