The Benefits Manager facilitates the daily oversight of the Company’s multiple health and welfare plans, wellness initiatives and the Company’s retirement plans (401(k) and NQDC). This individual administers and communicates the Company’s benefits program with regard to plan options, policy features, enrollment and other employee communication and education goals. The Sr. Benefits Manager conducts periodic surveys to determine market positioning, facilitate the planning, developing, and redesigning of the Company’s benefit programs when appropriate, including the coordination of budget submission with annual design work. Ensures compliance through completion of all required and appropriate audit and submission processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day administration of the company’s health and welfare benefits, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and other company benefits.
  • Understand risk and compliance of benefits administration and have strong working knowledge of Benefits/Payroll related Federal/State laws, including, but not limited to FLSA, FMLA, ADA, PWFA, HIPAA, ERISA, and COBRA.
  • Act as a primary contact or liaison for escalated employee or vendor concerns related to all health and welfare, retirement, and benefit matters.
  • Responsible for responding to benefit related inquiries (eligibility, coverage, payments, data feeds, etc.) for employees and leadership as the benefits subject matter expert.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and developments related to employee benefits and make recommendations to leadership.
  • Manage benefit renewal and the annual open enrollment process by collaborating with brokers to ensure competitive, cost-effective and compliant benefit offerings.
  • Create, review, and maintain ongoing employee benefit communications, guides, plan documents, brochures and other related materials for accuracy and compliance with provided guidelines.
  • Point of contact for annual H&W benefit and retirement testing, plan audits and 5500 filings.
  • Develop, design, and implement yearly plan for monthly wellness related programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct regular benefit audits to verify compliance and with internal policies and legal requirements.
  • Oversee leave of absences, FMLA, PWFA and ADA accommodations ensuring compliance with state and federal leave laws.
  • Provide oversight of ACA maintenance and reporting.
  • Reconciles benefit deductions to payroll records and vendor billing statements.
  • Generate reports and analytics to assess the effectiveness of benefits and identify areas for improvement and summarize information.
  • Ensures the accuracy of all information related to benefits in the HRIS system.
  • UKG HRIS system expert for benefits portal.
  • Develop, manage and mentor Benefits Coordinator.
  • Handle special projects and additional responsibilities as required.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related discipline (or equivalent experience) required.
  • Three to five years of employer health and welfare benefits administration experience
  • Experience with plan design, and prior 401k administration experience a+
  • CEBS certification preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS technology (UKG a+) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
