Mission:

We are seeking an experienced Director of Firmware Engineering to lead a team of 15-20 Embedded Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Technicians as well as third party contract organizations to maintain CenTrak’s Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) market leadership in the healthcare space. The Director of Firmware Engineering will work closely together with the CTO to help direct aspects of research and development for a commercial RTLS product portfolio including: Asset Tracking & Management, Nurse Call Automation, Clinical Operations and Workflow, Patient, staff and New Baby protection, Temperature Monitoring, Hand-Hygiene Compliance/Infection Control hardware and IoT software product programs. This role is accountable for day-to-day execution of the tasks required to drive completion of a select set of projects on time and within budget. The role reports directly to the CTO and works in close collaboration with senior leadership.



Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of embedded developers, electrical engineers, and technicians.
  • Continuously refactor and craft engineering organization best suited to exceeding product and business objectives and success
  • Work with CTO, product management and cross functional resources to define and implement a sustainable technology roadmap.
  • Identify, select, and manage development partners, track development progress, and validate all technical milestones.
  • Deliver data driven decision metrics to determine organic vs partnership led development.
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the embedded software engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and quality.
  • Lead the design, architecture and development of embedded software solutions ensuring sustainable and efficient connectivity with other applications and hardware connected to the Centrak echo system.
  • Drive continuous improvement in firmware development processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Ensure adherence to cybersecurity standards and best practices in embedded development.
  • Design, implement and execute DFQ processes to improve overall product quality and reduce sustaining cost.
  • Direct and support Lead hardware engineer and related hardware design resources
  • Define, track, and deliver key productivity metrics and continually work towards improving team efficiency and engineering capacity.
  • Assist in building the company's reputation as an exceptional organization by maintaining a compelling product offering and working environment investigating new approaches to attract talent.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum)
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive, hands-on experience in all areas of engineering
  • 7+ Years directly managing engineering teams
  • 7+ Years of direct Embedded programming experience
  • Proven ability to lead high performing technical teams
  • Experience/Knowledge of hardware development
  • Experience/knowledge of IOT platform design patterns
  • Knowledge of analog, digital, RF and micro-controllers a plus
  • Experience developing in C, C++
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in teams and delegate work required
  • Ability to prioritize multiple activities
  • Demonstrated ability to work with geographically diverse teams
