Who is Swirnow Building Systems?

We are a 50 year old Baltimore, Maryland based multi-regional, full service, design-distributor of specialty structural and architectural cladding systems, serving designers and contractors across the country. 


Overview:

The VP of Sales is a senior leadership position responsible for driving the strategic growth and expansion of a range of products including our new Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) and existing Cladding business. The position reports directly to the President of Swirnow Building Systems and requires an understanding of the market, strong leadership and management skills, and a proven track record in business development. 


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to build out new business development of BIPV products and our existing Cladding business.
  • Identify new market opportunities, assess market potential and lead the strategy to capitalize on growth areas within the industry.
  • Communicate strategies and sales programs to direct reports, the sales team and support members.

Business Development:

  • Execute direct sales with leading architects, contractors, installers, developers, and more, while inspiring and supporting sales associates under your management. 

Proposal and Contract Negotiation:

  • Oversee the preparation of proposals, bids, and contracts, ensuring alignment with company objectives and sales targets. 
  • Negotiate the terms and conditions of contracts, managing pricing strategies, and resolving issues to achieve mutually beneficial terms. 

Full Cycle Sales Support:

  • Work cross functionally with sales, production and project teams to plan and execute the sales strategy.
  • Lead marketing and promotional strategy for new BIPV products and Cladding businesses and the retention of customers. 
  • Partner closely with regional sales teams to identify new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to enhance product and brand visibility. 

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Responsible for the hiring and development of Sales Associates and Independent Territory Representatives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the business development team, setting clear goals and objectives, and monitoring performance. 
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the organization.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in business development or sales with a proven track record. Ideally experience in building products or construction industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others to achieve strategic goals and grow professionally.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to make creative and data driven decisions.


Additional Requirements:

  • Familiarity with sales and marketing techniques to support the strategic growth of a business, its products and support customer retention. 
  • Experience in managing complex projects and cross functional teams
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial analysis and forecasting
