Job Description: Community Coordinator

The Community Coordinator will be a vital addition to our small nonprofit team, focused on building and maintaining relationships with financial partners. This mostly remote position involves managing fundraising events, engaging community partners, and increasing philanthropic support. The Community Coordinator will represent Aging UP and effectively communicate our mission to inspire support and increase donations.


Compensation: Part-time, non-exempt hourly wage of $24-$30, based on qualifications and experience. It includes paid holidays, paid time off, potential bi-annual bonuses, professional development, and the potential to expand the role.

Responsibilities

  • Event Management - Manage the planning, organization, and execution of fundraising and special events, ensuring they are within budget and goals are achieved. Coordinate with third-party initiatives that raise funds on behalf of Aging UP. Develop and manage a sponsorship program.


  • Partnership Development - Identify and build relationships with potential investors (individuals, businesses, and foundations) to sustain and grow donations. Communicate strategically and consistently with current and potential investors during all phases of the cultivation process, ensuring they are appropriately thanked and acknowledged. Manage and enhance UPlifter recurring giving program. Identify and build partnerships with nonprofits and businesses to benefit youth in the program (job training, housing, etc.).


  • Administrative - Research grant opportunities and support the reporting process. Assist Communications Director in developing an annual fundraising plan. Maintain donor database and reporting.


  • Community Engagement - Identify and attend community events that support networking opportunities and community relations (Rotary, Chamber mixers, etc.). Discover opportunities to present or schedule Executive Directors to represent Aging UP to potential partners and investors. Assist the Communications Director in executing marketing efforts (social media, newsletter, etc.).

  • Excellent verbal, written, and general math skills.
  • Dedication to a welcoming, inclusive, and diverse work environment.
  • Manage multiple tasks professionally, working independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated and effective in a hybrid work setting.
  • Familiarity with the Sacramento community.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Understand basic graphic design principles and photography concepts.
  • Experience with CRMs or donor databases (DonorPerfect preferred).
  • Skilled in managing donor, customer, or client portfolios.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally as required.
  • Capability to lift up to 40 pounds on occasion.
  • Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, or CFRE credential preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
