An engineering company is seeking to hire a Payroll Specialist. In this seat you will sit on a team of 5 people. You will be responsible for processing biweekly multistate payroll for about 170 employees using ADP. The ideal candidate has previous ADP experience is a selfstarter and can be fulltime inoffice.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administers processing of organizations biweekly payroll and collects Employee forms for payroll data to maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Handles processing of employee status changes analyzes payroll and employee expenses assures general ledger accounts are reconciled; creates ongoing monthend quarterly and yearend organization reports; and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Audits payroll information for accuracy.
  • Reconciles payroll deposits tax withholdings wage garnishments and voluntary deductions.
  • Prepare all payroll journal entries.
  • Reconciles monthly insurance statements prepare journal entries and forwards invoice to accounts payable for processing.
  • Participates in problem solving and special projects within the HR Department.
  • Assigns exempt and nonexempt worker status to employees.
  • Prepares responses to notices from government agencies regarding employee tax filings.
  • Assures that payrollrelated transactions are processed in compliance with external and internal policies.
  • Performs actions necessary to track and determine regular and overtime pay.
  • Calculates and processes Federal and State tax and social security withholdings union dues and other deductions insurance benefits pension/retirement 401(k) contributions and company match and profit sharing.
  • Screens timeworked inputs for calculating coding or other errors. Monitors computer reports alerting Payroll Clerks to problems or errors.
  • Reconciles errors and maintains payroll records.
  • Reviews and processes payroll adjustments including vacation sick and other time off.
  • Generates accrual entries as required. Fields and responds to payroll inquiries and resolves discrepancies as required.
  • Conduct payroll training for current and new managers.
  • Maintains knowledge of rules and laws which govern the payroll administration practices.
  • Assists with guiding and training managers on processing payroll and time and attendance.
  • Generate payroll and HRIS reports as requested by the leadership team.


Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of Payroll experience.
  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Must be a team player willing to assist in all HR areas or tasks.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with ADP preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel and MS office suite Outlook Word
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to gather data compile information and prepare reports.
  • Must be able to multitask and thrive in a fastpaced constantly changing environment.
  • Familiarity with federal and state wage laws.
  • Attention to detail a must.


Bachelor s degree in accounting required 1-2 years of experience in corporate accounting Experience with ERP systems such as QuickBooks or Deltek Knowledgeable in accounting principles (US GAAP) Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to identify problems and discrepancies, independently perform research and analysis of causes, and recommend corrective actions Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Excel (pivot tables), Word and Powerpoint A mindful, accountable, ethical, responsible, respectful, and collaborative approach to work Eager to learn new systems, processes, and accounting for a growth company.
