Job Details

Day to Day: Provided the context at Bloomberg, they get the info on the data feeds, look into data and understand what it is and the relationship between the data, do mapping, and help the modeler do what he needs to do.


  • Bringing in data from Bloomberg and implementing it into our data base
  • New project bringing it into Hadoop (any experience there is good)
  • Understand the data and how it is used, what it means, relationships between the data, work with the data modeler to get his hands around the data to do his work.
  • Data Mapping – database structures, how you bring it into a warehouse and map from source to table
  • He/she will work with the developers to implement the model into the data
  • They use Informatica to do the ETL (this helps to work with the developers to do the mapping)
  • Not really interacting on the Business side - Will have a requirement – what is the final output ( what data fields do they need period)
  • Writing the stories in Jira for the developers ( NOT business- ETL stories to move data)


This person needs to have Business Analyst experience bc:

  • Able to Deliverables epics stories – how to break it down
  • Working with business
  • Working with Jira
  • Explain the data they are working with well


Must Haves:

  • 50/50 split BA and data analysis (Not doing BA work but needs to have BA qualities)
  • Need to be able to dissect data and communicate with the business.
  • NOT data analyst profiles
  • Previous BAC experience is pretty much required for the win here due to ramp up time to understand their space
  • Other financial exp is fine but will not speak to the wants
  • Data Warehouse experience
  • Reports - how the data will be used or manipulated – they will use Tableau.
  • SQL and TOAD for data analysis (SQL exp. more important)
  • Jira – write stories for dev.
  • ETL
