As the Microsoft Windows SME, you will be the go-to expert for all things related to Microsoft Windows environments within our organization. You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Windows-based systems, ensuring they meet the highest performance, security, and reliability standards. Your responsibilities will include providing advanced troubleshooting, leading technical projects, and mentoring junior IT staff.


Key Responsibilities:

  • System Design & Implementation: Lead the design, deployment, and configuration of Microsoft Windows-based systems, ensuring they align with organizational goals and best practices.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex technical issues related to Windows servers, desktops, and other related systems. Resolve escalated incidents and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze system performance data and implement strategies to optimize the performance of Windows environments, including resource allocation, load balancing, and patch management.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure Windows environments comply with security standards and regulatory requirements. Implement and manage security measures, including encryption, access controls, and regular security audits.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline system administration tasks, improve efficiency, and reduce manual errors.
  • System Integration: Oversee the integration of Windows systems with other enterprise applications and platforms, ensuring seamless interoperability.
  • Disaster Recovery & Backup: Design and implement robust disaster recovery plans and backup strategies for Windows environments, ensuring data integrity and system availability.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures. Generate reports on system health, security, and performance metrics for senior management.
  • Mentorship & Training: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior IT staff, sharing knowledge and best practices. Conduct training sessions to enhance the team’s overall technical capabilities.
  • Stay Current: Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in Microsoft Windows technologies, emerging trends, and industry best practices. Recommend and implement new technologies that can benefit the organization.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, providing expert advice and recommendations on Microsoft Windows-related matters.


Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.


Experience:

  • 15+ years of IT experience, focusing on Microsoft Windows environments, including Windows Server and Windows Desktop platforms.
  • 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise Windows environments as a Subject Matter Expert
  • Proven experience in system design, deployment, and administration of large-scale Windows environments.
  • Extensive experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other Windows-related services.
  • Experience in implementing and managing security measures, including firewalls, antivirus, encryption, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell and other scripting languages for automation and system management.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware) and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
  • Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, networking, and security best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Team-oriented with strong leadership and mentoring abilities.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience with cloud-based Windows environments, particularly Azure.
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise environments, including global or multi-site deployments.
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices and processes.
