Manufacturing Engineer Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer is a "hands-on" position that plans, directs, and coordinatesmanufacturing equipment and processes to produce high quality injection molded products.The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executingengineering projects from conception to completion. Responsible for setting up and/orrevising manufacturing processes and assisting the manufacturing operations in problemsolving and continuous process improvements this individual quantifies results, documents,and presents findings to management and prepares reports. This position also mentors andprovides training to other injection molding personnel.

This role involves collaborating with multiple departments, managing resources, and ensuringthat projects are completed on time, within scope, and in accordance with quality standards.

Manufacturing Engineer Essential Functions

Develop new processes, assess and document new and existing processes. Implementand evaluate changes to existing processes designed to improve product quality,productivity, and overall equipment efficiency.

Develop and maintain process documentation ensuring that processes and procedures areclearly stated and understandable for all employees. Provide technical support/solutionsto manufacturing processes, improve yield and throughput, drive cost reduction activitiesand improve part quality.

Demonstrated ability to start-up, operate and shut down process related equipment. Mustbe able to work independently on new process development as well as troubleshootingcurrent production issues.

Interact with customers to resolve issues and provide new project updates.

Implement technical solutions including statistical methodology to meet customer cost,quality, and delivery expectations.

Facilitate and support facility and manufacturing safety, environmental, and ergonomicsefforts.

Maintains records, files, and other documentation pertinent to assignments.

Position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Manage special assignment projects and other related duties appropriate for the successof TMG.

Inspect new products and assist Quality Department in FAI, validation, or PPAP.

Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, spacerequirements, and equipment layout.

Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods.

Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor,and material costs.

Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizinginformation and trends.

Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.

Assist in capital equipment rebuilding or replacement projects.

Assist with new product manufacturing processes, product drawings, inspection controlplans, 1st article submission, process capability analysis.

Drive and manage Kaizen events.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw rapid conclusions.

Ability to interpret mathematical and graphical data.

Work with abstract and variables to draw conclusions.

Ability to handle multiple variables at once to aid in problem solving.

Manufacturing Engineer Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience of 5+ years in manufacturingfield.

Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen events is preferable. (Green or Blackbelt is a positive but not required.)

Must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings such asmachine schematics, part drawings, etc. Effectively present information to managementand staff and communicate effectively in a team atmosphere.

Understanding of DOE techniques.

Good analytical skills applicable to problem solving.

Understanding of quality control tools such as SPC.

Self-starter must be able to work with little direction and with a high level of self-motivation.

Possess great time management skills.

Ability to manage multiple start-up projects.

Demonstrated superior communication (written and verbal), teamwork, andorganizational skills.

Excellent computer skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

Knowledge of Solid Works.

Use appropriate PPE.

Demonstrated ability to think out of the box and recommend options.

Ability to lead others.

Ability to mentor and develop youth apprentices.

Must be able to understand and utilize statistical process control methods.

Must be willing to work overtime or on alternate shifts as needed to meet productionrequirements.

Manufacturing Engineer Physical Demands and Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.

Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds.

Frequently required standing, bending, squatting, and reaching with hands and arms.

Regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, talk, and hear.

Ability to use hand tools.

Ability to read applicable instructions.
