Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineer focused on Product Support is integral in crafting solutions for production obstacles while adhering to budgetary and specification constraints, ensuring compliance with aircraft configurations. This role necessitates proficiency in conducting root cause analysis and executing corrective measures to refine manufacturing workflows. The engineer will oversee detail parts production and assembly processes, guaranteeing alignment with customer and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support detail parts production and assembly operations within a manufacturing context.
- Develop and maintain documentation and procedures to ensure adherence to customer and regulatory production standards.
- Serve as a bridge between design engineering, tooling, machine shop, quality assurance, and production, interpreting engineering drawings to meet objectives.
- Analyze statistical data, including process capability assessments and throughput metrics, to provide technical support for process enhancements.
- Plan and document installation procedures, tooling, equipment, and quality control methods to optimize manufacturing efficiency.
- Prepare and update production schedules, assist with Bill of Materials (BOM) identification and management, and submit Tooling Requests and Tooling discrepancy reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
- Six Sigma training is advantageous.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the aerospace sector is required.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in SAP, CAD/CAM, CATIA, and Microsoft Office is essential.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to effectively manage nonconformance disposition dwell time.
- Resource optimization skills to enhance production processes.
- Experience in reducing assembly time and implementing efficiency improvements.
- Expertise in creating and revising planning and routings for aircraft or components.
- Evaluation and implementation of process enhancements and cost-saving strategies.
- Ensure engineering configuration accuracy through MBOM transactions.
- Results-driven with a focus on continuous improvement and achieving targets.
- Demonstrates ethical behavior and promotes company success.
- Ability to cultivate teamwork, build relationships, and appreciate diverse perspectives.
Physical Demands:
- Capable of working in environments with equipment noise, temperature variations, dust, and odors.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, sitting, squatting, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Normal auditory, visual, and speech capabilities are required.
- Capacity to lift, carry, or move items up to 15 lbs. throughout the work shift.
- Ability to handle materials/items/equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. or more with the aid of movement assist technology.
