An Aerospace & Defense client is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in their Tucson, AZ facility. My client is known for being a very large competitor in the Aerospace & Defense industry, producing products that span across many divisions within this space.


The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing new technologies in diode laser systems, working on product design, analysis, and development from concept to delivery.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and analysis of Mechanical components.
  • Solve difficult problems with sound Engineering principles.
  • 3D and 2D CAD design and detailing utilizing Solidworks with ANSI Y14.5M standards and GD&T.
  • Analysis of designs using ANSYS and other means to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Work directly with Product Engineers to transfer product to production.
  • Work directly with Program Managers to maintain project scope and budget.
  • Assemble and debug prototypes, working closely with Technicians, Operators, and Engineers of multiple disciplines.
  • Verify prototype component assembly and validate design.
  • Build and test assembly tooling required for manual and automated assembly of micro components and micro-optics.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a related Engineering field with similar duties.
  • Experience with hands on development and prototype builds.
  • Capable of working in a cleanroom environment up to 50% of the time.
  • Familiarity with technologies for manufacturing precision mechanical components made from various metals and ceramics in low to medium volume.
