Senior Community Mental Health Key Clinician

Adult Community Mental Health Team with homeless portfolio based in CBD of Melbourne Assertive outreach in the community Part Time or Full Time negotiable – Fixed term to June 2023 (parental leave cover)

Community Team 1 (CT1) provide care to consumers living in the CBD and Inner Melbourne. Additionally they hold the homeless portfolio for Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Service. CT1 applies an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model of care, which is characterized by lower caseloads, community-based treatment (outreach) a team based approach and high intensity of care. This can involve medication management, psychosocial support, assessment and referral (housing, financial, vocation, increasing levels of participation), psychological assessment, formulation and interventions, crisis assessments and admissions.

Your new role:

Work with a team of enthusiastic multidiscipline professionals providing assertive outreach and high-quality care to some of Melbourne’s most marginalised people. Provide support and leadership from a psychology perspective and contribute to the multi-disciplinary team. Complete clinical assessments, provide useful diagnosis and recovery planning for our consumers. Develop and apply psychological interventions suitable for our consumer cohort that will assist with their recovery.

About you:

Interested in working with homeless consumers directly in the community. Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of severe mental illness and psychiatric disability and approved supervisor status (or be willing to undertake this training). Knowledge of effective evidence-based interventions appropriate to low prevalence disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorder, relapse prevention and substance abuse.
